Simon loves Jason?
Apparently, being cute does sometimes mean more than musical talent on ”American Idol.” Even to to the mean judge.
How else do you explain Simon Cowell praising Jason Castro on Tuesday night?
Cowell has, in the past, explained to TV critics that it’s sometimes hard to hear the performance with all the screaming going on. That, at times, he goes back, listens to the tape and comes away with a different impression.
It would be interesting to know if that’s true today.
Given that Castro was only in the general vicinity of several low notes and, in his effort to emote, looked rather sick to his stomach, it just might be.
Oddly enough, it was up to judge Randy Jackson to come closer to reality. Albeit with some oddness of his own.
”For me, I didn’t really love it,” Jackson said. ”I felt I was at a weird beach luau and somebody was playing some music in the distance.”
Huh?
”Jason, I’d love to be at the luau, listening all night long,” said judge Paula Abdul.
If Abdul had any credibility, that might mean more.
