New movies in theaters this week …

— “Baby Mama,” a motherhood surrogacy comedy starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. (Rated PG-13)
— “CJ7,” an “E.T.”-like science-fiction comedy from “Kung-Fu Hustle” director Stephen Chow. (Rated PG)
— “Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay,” the sequel to the surprise, 2004 stoner comedy hit. (Rated R)

The second “Harold & Kumar” simply repeats the first jokes, adding unsuccessful political commentary. And “CJ7” is so bizarre it’s an acquired taste. That leaves the messy but sweet “Baby Mama” as the best choice for the weekend.

Another film, the R-rated thriller “Deception,” was not pre-screened for local critics. Despite the presence of stars Ewan McGregor and Hugh Jackman, the early word of mouth on this one is awful.
