Iron Men

Like a lot of comic book stores around the county — and across the valley — Black Cat Comics, 2265 S. Highland Drive, is celebrating Free Comic Book Day on Saturday. The event features giveaways of free promotional comics titles from most of the major and independent comics companies.

On Saturday, Black Cat will also feature an event with local comics writer Len Kaminski, the creator of the Iron Man character “War Machine” (who is alluded to in the new movie opening Friday). Kaminski will be signing comics from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

His appearance is also a “tease” for an even bigger signing event the following Saturday. Matt Fraction, writer of the upcoming “Invincible Iron Man” series, as well as “Casanova,” “The Order” and “The Immortal Iron Fist” will appear May 10 at Black Cat from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
