Tuesday’s telecast of “48 Hours” — a special titled “Polygamy, a World Apart” — did very well in the ratings.
According to CBS, the hour won its timeslot in households (a 6.0 rating); total viewers (8.45 million); adults 25-54 (2.9 million); and finished second in adults 18-49 (2.3 million).
Those are pretty good numbers, all things considered. And the rating was up 82 percent over what CBS did in the same timeslot a year earlier.
There wasn’t really anything Utah viewers hadn’t seen before — with the exception of an extended interview with FLDS member Willie Jessop. He was apparently there to make the FLDS Church look good, but he looked evasive and downright creepy.
But a lot of it was no doubt new to viewers in other parts of the country.
At least the “48 Hours” telecast made it clear that LDS Church and FLDS Church are NOT the same . . .
