Did NBC go overboard?

There’s a fine line between offering tributes to a colleague who dies suddenly and using that untimely death to fuel ratings — and NBC seemed to cross that line over the weekend.

The excessive coverage of Tim Russert’s death cheapened that coverage. And, in a way, was disrespectful to Russert himself.

If he was indeed the kind of guy he seemed — the kind of guy we were repeatedly told he was — Russert wouldn’t have approved of what NBC did.

Did it seem a bit overdone to you?
