"Killer" awards
Congratulations to local director Steven Greenstreet (“This Divided State”). His new documentary feature, “Killer at Large,” won the Silver Medal (Best Documentary Award) at Britain’s International Filmmaker Festival as well as the Best Political Documentary Prize at the Philadelphia Independent Film Festival.
The film examines America’s obesity problem and features appearances from former U.S. President Bill Clinton, consumer advocate Ralph Nader, filmmaker/playwright Neil LaBute, author Michael Pollan and former Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt.
Greenstreet said the festival experience was “great” and added that it was “even more satisfying to see that the film resonated enough with these (international audiences) to receive these awards.”
“Killer at Large” will be screened July 9 at the Tower Theatre, 876 E. 900 South. Tickets are $5 and all proceeds go to the Wasatch Community Gardens’ education programs. There will be a panel discussion following the 6:30 p.m. screening, featuring Greenstreet, producers Bryan Young and Elias Pate, and Shawn Talbott, the film’s executive producer.
