Amy Winehouse's ongoing tribulations

First it was the drug and alcohol addiction. Then came the rehabilitation stints and the announcement that she is in the beginning stages of emphysema. Now her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, has been sentenced to a 27-month jail term for beating up a bar owner and then offering him $400,000 bribe not to tell.

It seems as if Amy Winehouse’s life is nothing but a series of tragedies.

Sure, Winehouse probably didn’t have anything to do with Fielder-Civil’s actions, but with the way things are going, she seems to be headed for an early grave.

The pressures of being a Grammy Award winner, I’m sure, is only adding fuel to the self-destructive fire.

In some ways, she’s like the late Janis Joplin, a brilliant artist who eventually lost her battle with fame.

Is there anyway out of the pit for Winehouse, or is she destined to become another pop-culture statistic?

I feel sad for her.
