David Byrne in Park City

The Park City Performing Arts Foundation has announced that David Byrne will open the 2008-09 main stage season at the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts.

The multi-dimensional Byrne, who is known for leading the Talking Heads and his collaborations with Brian Eno, will perform on Saturday, Oct. 11.

Byrne’s stop is in support of his and Eno’s most recent CD, “Everything that Happens Will Happen Today.”

And if the show is like other David Byrne performances, there will be a lot of music and a lot of technological and visually stunning showcases.

Then again, he may surprise us all and do a full-on acoustic set.

Regardless, this is one show that I will not miss.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, Sept. 2, and can be purchased by calling 435-655-3114. On line purchases will begin Sept. 4 or 5. Prices will range from $18-$65

In addition to Byrne, the season’s concert series at the Eccles Center will include Natalie McMaster’s holiday Celtic show, “Christmas in Cape Breton,” on Dec. 20. The Brazillian dance and ballet company Grupo Corpo will perform March 10, 2009. Other performers will be announced later.

The Eccles Center for the Performing Arts is located at 1750 Kearns Blvd. in Park City.
