This week saw the debut of the long-awaited, full-length trailer for the sixth “Harry Potter” movie, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” (The trailer is currently playing in front of the animated film “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.”)
While fans were thrilled by the new trailer, they are already bemoaning the fact that distributor Warner Bros. has delayed the movie’s release. Originally scheduled for the Thanksgiving weekend, it will now be released next July.
Conspiracy theorists are already speculating that Warners is afraid to go toe-to-toe with Summit Entertainment’s movie adaptation of “Twilight,” which appeals to at least some of the same audience. That film is expect to be one of the biggest this fall.
However, Warners has been raking in the bucks with this July’s blockbuster “The Dark Knight,” which may have influenced the studio’s decision to delay the release of the “Harry Potter” sequel.
What do you think? Is there something sinister behind the decision?
