To boldly go see a movie trailer?
Trekkies will finally get their first, substantive look at the new movie “re-imagining” of “Star Trek” on Friday. That’s when the trailer for J.J. Abrams’ new science-fiction “Trek” thriller debuts in theaters. It will be showing before most prints of the new James Bond movie, “Quantum of Solace.”
Photos of the new “Star Trek” crew — including Chris Pine (James T. Kirk), Zachary Quinto (Mr. Spock) and Karl Urban (Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy”) — appeared last month online and in Entertainment Weekly at the same time. And fans have been eager to see more ever since.
By the way, “Lost” co-creator Abrams’ “Star Trek” was originally supposed to be released this December, though production delays due to the Writers Guild of America Strike held that up. That movie will be released May 8 now.
Also, for those who don’t want to pay just to see the trailer, it will debut online Monday at the film’s official Web site, www.startrekmovie.com.
