Beautiful bodies

I went to the Body Worlds Exhibit over the weekend. How completely fascinating!

Who knew we had all that going on inside of us? I mean, I remember learning it in school, but there’s something about seeing the muscles, the organs, the bones… in that context, that is really quite remarkable.

The exhibit is really well done, covering everything from the heart, lungs, muscles, bones, organs, blood, fat, oxygen, growing babies, arteries, etc. You name it, and if it has anything to do with the body, they show it and talk about it.

I left marveling that with SO much going on inside, how amazing that so many of us turn out mostly OK.

Plus it’s inspiring. Walking among the muscle-bound specimens, all in seemingly great health, it’s impossible not to resolve to do a little more to keep your own body in tip-top shape. Eat a little less, move a little more.

Though I will admit, it didn’t stop me from devouring some French toast afterward and remaining fairly sedentary most of Sunday. But, at least I’m thinking about changing — that’s worth something right?

I really do think it’s worth your time and money.

If you go:

–Be aware that it might be uncomfortable for some kids, though most I saw seemed to think it was “cooooool!”

–The genitals are left on all bodies; they are an off-white color.

–The room is very dark. Only the displays are lit.

–Though they allow you to get right up close to the bodies, of course, you are not to touch them.
