The Utah Film Critics Association has announced its awards for 2008, led by Best Picture winner ‘The Dark Knight.’ Heath Ledger, who played The Joker, was also recognized for Best Supporting Performance by an Actor, in a unanimous selection.
Melissa Leo was recognized in the Lead Actress category for her performance as a financially struggling mother who becomes a smuggler of illegal immigrants in ‘Frozen River.’ Mickey Rourke took Lead Actor honors as the broken-down former wrestling star in ‘The Wrestler.’
Two awards went to ‘Rachel Getting Married’ — Rosemarie DeWitt’s supporting performance and Jenny Lumet’s screenplay. Multiple honors also went to ‘WALL-E,’ for Animated Feature and for director Andrew Stanton.
In the documentary category, ‘Man on Wire’ was recognized, while the Swedish vampire thriller ‘Let the Right One In’ was honored in the non-English language category.
