Inauguration Music

Sony Masterworks has exclusively released the John Williams’ arrangement of “Air and Simple Gifts” on iTunes.

The music was performed by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, violinist Itzhak Perlman, pianist Gabriela Montero and clarinetist Anthony McGill, at President. Barack Obama’s inauguration.

The music marked the first classical quartet to be played at a presidential inauguration. In fact, Williams chose “Air” because he knew that Aaron Copland is Preident. Obama’s favorite composer.

Regardless of the so-called controversy about the track being pre-recorded, the work is beautiful and available now.
