Grammy Award-nominated, contemporary instrumentalist David Lanz is holding an online contest.
The Seattle-based, New Age pioneer said in a release that he is flattered so many do-it-themselves pianists have covered his songs and posted them on the popular YouTube Web site. So he decided to put a call out to fans of his who play piano and have a little fun.
“All you need to do is record your favorite David Lanz piece, and then post it on (YouTube). These need to be recent videos. … And only the first 30 videos posted will be eligible,” he said in the release. “We will pick our top 10 contestants, then those 10 will be voted on by you. We will then select our winners and award prizes to our top 3.”
Lanz said to make a good video of yourself, post it on www.youtube.com and title it The David Lanz Contest (and don’t use quotations).
Once the 10 videos are chosen, then Lanz will open up the voting to fans on a later date.
The grand prize will be a one-on-one coaching session with Lanz himself, which is a $250 value. Other prizes will be CDs, DVDs and songbooks from his catalog and “… other cool stuff I will think of later,” he said.
