“Australia” and “X-Men” star Hugh Jackman was a surprising choice as Oscars ceremony host. Yet he’s going to be emceeing the 81st festivities Sunday night.
As for what we’ll get from Jackman, the Tony Award-winning actor will likely have at least one song-and-dance number. If the rumors are true, the opening bit will see him performing with actress Anne Hathaway (a Best Actress nominee, for “Rachel Getting Married”).
Jackman has been pretty cagey about what else he’ll be doing Sunday night. Though he did joke that that perhaps he’ll appear on stage au naturel.
“I haven’t told anyone this, but we are going to do most of it naked and we’re going to sing through the whole show. … There will be a strategic leaf placed here or there. We don’t want to be distasteful or anything. This is a raw night. This is the Oscars. Raw emotion, that’s the quality we’re going for,” he told several online news sites.
So perhaps it’s a good thing he’ll have others writing his Oscar night material for him.
