Seen and reviewed (March 6)

New films in theaters this week:

– “The Class” (rated PG-13), a docudrama based on a Parisian teacher’s real-life experiences. (French with subtitles)
– “Watchmen” (rated R), a live-action adaptation of the acclaimed, mid-’80s comic book mini-series.

Like its source material, the “Watchmen” movie is likely to polarize audiences. That’s not just because of its very R-rated content (particularly the violence and sex scenes), but also its dark, dystopian concepts. It is very faithful to the comics mini-series and should appeal to its fans, though.

As for “The Class,” it’s … well, in a class by itself. By showing the daily minutiae and routines, it’s an eye-opening glimpse at the education system. It should be required viewing for anyone involved in education.

Which, if either of these movies, fits into your weekend viewing plans?
