New Green Day release
It’s finally official. The new Green Day CD, “21st Century Breakdown” will hit the stores Friday, May 15.
The first single, “Know Your Enemy,” will be available online in April.
“21st Century Breakdown” is the band’s first studio album since 2004′s Grammy Award-winning, No. 1 album “American Idiot.”
So don’t tell me the band — drummer Tre Cool, left, singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist Mike Dirnt (photo by Phil Mucci) — didn’t feel a little pressure getting everything right for “21st Century Breakdown.”
The new CD is another concept/rock-opera album, like “American Idiot,” according to a Reprise Records press release. The CD chronicles the lives of a couple (Christian and Gloria) and is divided into three acts — “Heroes and Cons,” “Charlatans and Saints” and “Horseshoes and Handgrenades.”
From what I’ve read in other music-news sites online is that the CD is probably more meaty and ambitious than “American Idiot.”
Here’s hoping “21st Century Breakdown” doesn’t get mired down with the meat and ambition.
I, for one, am waiting for this CD with bated breath.
