Utahns on "The Real World: Brooklyn": Episode 12

THE SECOND-TO-LAST EPISODE turns mostly serious as Ryan deals with the news that he’s being recalled to the U.S. Army.
“My heart just breaks, because I know how much Ryan does not want to go back to Iraq,” says Chet Cannon, the 23-year-old Utah man. “I don’t know what you can say to make somebody feel better.”
And, later, he expresses his feelings to his buddy, Ryan. “I love you. And one of the things I respect most is your willingness and courage to go do something like that,” Chet says.
The other Utahn, Baya Voce-Hoffman, is also visibly upset.
“It’s really heart-breaking to think that he could potentally go back and be fighting for something that he doesn’t believe in,” Baya says.
“I’m scared for him. I don’t want him to leave and come back a different person,” she adds later. ” I don’t want him to leave and come back severely injured. I don’t want him to leave and not come back.”
It’s pretty heavy stuff.
TO LIGHTEN THE MOOD, all eight roommates go to Atlantic City for the weekend. Chet mocks JD for playing slot machines. JD wins $3,000,Baya does not win. She loses all her money.
“I lost everything on that stupid machine,” Baya says. “I’m broke. I lost everything. My kidney. My first-born child.”
Chet wears sunglasses inside the casino. Chet looks silly.
Chet can’t go an entire episode without doing something embarrassing. He pulls the bed covers off Devyn, who isn’t wearing much.
“Oh my gosh! You need to sleep with some freakin’ clothes on,” Chet says, He is oblivious to the fact that this would not be a problem if he didn’t pull the covers off Devyn.
Chet is kind of excited. “That’s the first naked woman that I’ve ever seen in the flesh,” he says.
Chet apologizes to Devyn. Devyn isn’t overly bothered, and points out that she wasn’t naked — she was wearing panties.
Chet is disappointed. Devyn is not the first naked woman he’s ever seen in the flesh.
Ryan is amused. “Why does Chet does these things? I don’t know,” he says. “But I’m glad he does.”
The roommates got to the spa to get massages. Chet is excited again.
“I wish I could be there when Chet gets a massage because I don’t know if any girl has touched him in that way,” Ryan says with a laugh.
“Seriously, this is like Christmas now. I don’t know what’s going to be there when I turn around,” Chet says.
Chet’s masseur looks old enough to be his mother. And she’s there to give him a foot massage.
“Oh yeah? I think my feet smell,” Chet says.
Chet is funny.
