He needs your help

In my movie-reviewing travels I’ve met a lot of nice people. Two of the friendliest and nicest are local film aficionados Patrick and Paul Gibbs.

I was distressed to hear about the health problems facing Paul, a 34-year-old film student and part-time Clark Planetarium employee. After living for years with impaired kidney function, he now find himself in desperate need of dialysis treatment — and a kidney transplant — to survive.

And since Paul does not have the needed insurance or funds to pay for his treatment, his friends and family have organized a benefit program titled “Paul-a-Palooza,” which will be held April 4 at the Woodshed, 60 E. 800 South.

“Paul-a-Palooza” will feature comedy performances from the Laughing Stock improv comedy troupe, poetry slam artist Jesse Parent and stand-up comedian Ricky Kimball, as well as musical performances by Gearbox, Rev. Mayhem, Ginger Bess
and the Heathen Highlanders.

All proceeds from “Paul-a-Palooza” ($7 cover charge) will go to the Paul Gibbs Kidney Transplant Fund.

The Woodshed is a private club, open to members 21 and older. For more information on the fund raiser or to make contributions to the Paul Gibbs Kidney Transplant Fund, browse www.kidney4paul.blogspot.com.
