Staying silent for a good cause
The Organ Loft, a South Salt Lake show house (3331 Edison Street) that specializes in exhibition of silent films, is interrupting its current movie “season” for a special fund-raising event April 17.
“An Evening With Charlie Chaplin & Mack Swain” is a program of short works, including collaborations between the legendary silent-film performer Chaplin and the famed, Salt Lake-born actor Swain.
The event is fund-raiser for the family of Daniel Howells, a longtime supporter of the Organ Loft who passed away due to injuries suffered in a traffic accident March 30.
Blaine Gale will provide musical accompaniment. Show time is 7:30 p.m. Admission is by donation, and all proceeds will go to benefit the Howells family. Donations may be made to the Dan Howells Children Trust at any local Key Bank location as well.
