Tony time

Listen up theater lovers!!

The Tony Awards were announced today, and just like I predicted – “Billy Elliot, The Musical” leads the pack with 15 nominations. Including acting nods for the three boys who play Billy; best musical; best original score, a whole bunch in the design categories and, of course, best choreography.
Next is a new musical called, “Next to Normal,” with 11 nominations and the new revival of “Hair” rounds out the top three vote getters, with eight.

Utahn Will Swenson, grandson of Ruth and Nathan Hale, was nominated for best performance as a featured actor in the revival of “Hair.”

The biggies:

“Dividing the Estate”
“God of Carnage”
“Reasons to be Pretty”
“33 Variations”

“Billy Elliot, The Musical”
“Next to Normal”
“Rock of Ages”
“Shrek: The Musical”
