THE FAB FIVE TOOK THEIR SHOT at making the finals of “America’s Got Talent” on Tuesday night. And, while the judges were impressed by the clogging of the Utah-born Whitear sisters, they expressed more than a bit of doubt that the five women will make it to the next round.
Piers Anthony — the Simon Cowell of “Talent” — praised the Fab Five for their skill and talent, but he also questioned whether they should have tried to change up their act a bit more.
“I think this is the problem,” he said. “You are brilliant cloggers. Can you get through tonight with the standard that’s been set? I think it’s going to be very tough.”
Judge Sharon Osbourne seemed to think that the sisters are ready to headline a Las Vegas act, which is part of what the “Talent” champion wins. She said the act is “very Vegas, darlings. It really is.”
And the third judge was both enthusiastic and skeptical about the performance by sisters Veva Ahlstrom, 24; Cambria Gibson, 28; Ayrion Myers, 31; Shaundalee Morgan, 33; and LaChere Vawdrey, 35.
“I can see you out in the fields of Morgan, Utah … rounding up those cows,” said David Hasselhoff, who’s making a career out of acting like a nutcase on this show. “You must have had a lot of practice because you guys are really tight. And I hope you make it back, because the competition tonight is huge.”
“The results of the voting will be announced in Wednesday’s episode of “America’s Got Talent” (8 p.m., Ch. 5). Four of the 10 acts that performed Tuesday will advance to the finals; another four will advance next week; the final eight perform on Monday, Sept. 14; and a winner will be announced on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
