I am so tired . . .
. . . of all the left and right rhetoric about Pres. Obama and the video that was shown in the Farmington elementary school.
I mean can’t we just TRY to get a long?
As a parent, I would have been happy for my children to hear what the video said, and then talked to them afterward about it.
If I didn’t agree with what was being said, I would have taken that time to instruct them about what I feel is correct.
Incidentally, I saw the video and had no problem with it.
Now before you start calling me a left-wing immoralist who only listens to degrading rock ‘n’ roll, remember that I am a father, a son, a grandson, a brother and a husband who cares about what happens to my family and the world they live in.
Regardless of how I see myself politically, I am tired of all the fighting. And I’m especially upset at my right-wing friends and my left-wing friends arguing about what is moral and immoral.
Devo had a song in 1980 called “Freedom of Choice” that sums up what I’m feeling. The chorus is as follows:
“I’ll say it again
In the land of the free
Use your freedom of choice
Freedom of choice…”
That’s what makes this country wonderful. But it seems that no one wants others to have a different opinion. That, to me, is ignorant.
I keep hearing the lines to Depeche Mode’s “People Are People” and realize that our situation hasn’t gotten better in the past 20 odd years, but worse.
C’mon people, “All You Need Is Love,” and remember we need to “Come Together,” or we will continue being the laughingstock of the world!
