I'm back

“It’s been too long. I’m glad to be back …” — AC/DC, 1980

Well, I’m kind of glad to be back.

It was nice hitting the red rocks of Moab, keeping our connection with the civilized world to a minimum.

The sun was out, but not too hot. And the sky was clear.

My wife and I took a new CD with us on the road trip down and back: Jim Brickman’s new one, “Beautiful World.”

I’ll write a full review for the Deseret News in a couple of weeks, but let me tell you, the title-track single, sung by Adam Crossely, fit the peaceful mood and, if I dare say it, everything was right in the world.

So, after time basking in the natural wonders of southeastern Utah, I should, in theory, be refreshed and ready to work.

In reality, I want to go back and hit the trails. And I can speak for my wife Tammy as well.

The cool thing is, we can go back for a couple of days next month.

There are so many people who live on the other side of the world who save all their lives so they can come vacation in Moab. And to them, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance.

We, on the other hand, live a mere three to four hours away. So the chance to go is always there.

The trick is not to take it for granted.

And I promise I will never do that.

Peace.
