Will Utahns make it to the
IF ALL THREE OF THE UTAHNS still competing on “So You Think You Can Dance” are going to make it to next week’s finals, one of them will have to do it despite the fact that she didn’t dance this week.
Ashleigh Di Lello was injured during rehearsals on Tuesday and was unable to perform. She told viewers of the Fox show that she and her partner, Russell Ferguson, were practicing a lift when her shoulder “popped completely out. But I put it back in.”
Di Lello said that even though she “begged and pleaded,” the show’s doctor “won’t clear me. But I’m ready to go!”
She is not, however, out of the running. The winner of “So You Think You Can Dance” is billed as “America’s favorite dancer,” and Di Lello could still go through to the finals if she gets enough votes from viewers.
And when her husband/fellow finalist, Ryan, performed his solo near the end of the show, he took the opportunity to campaign for his wife.
“Please vote for Ashleigh, you guys. Please remember. She’s done such a good job in this competition and deserves so much to be in the finale,” he said tearfully. “That was for you, baby. I love you!”
Ryan Di Lello got generally positive reviews from the judges on Tuesday. Nigel Lythgoe, did, however, say he was “too ballroom” during a disco routine and criticized his shirt (really). But Mary Murphy gave Ryan and his partner, Kathryn McCormick, “two tickets on the hot tamale train” for their cha cha.
Meanwhile, fellow Utahn Mollee Gray had the great fortune of being paired with judge-favorite Jakob Karr. And their love for him spilled over onto her.
“Mollee, you are blooming…. You are peaking,” judge Adam Shankman said.
“I think you should go to Broadway. This is perfect for you,” Lythgoe said.
The results of Tuesday night’s viewer voting will be announced in Wednesday’s show (7 p.m., Ch. 13). One guy and one girl will be eliminated; the remaining six will compete in next week’s finale.
