The passing of ‘The Rev’

I am shocked as anything about the death of Avenged Sevenfold drummer James “The Rev” Sullivan.

I just saw the band 10 ago when they opened for Buckcherry at the E Center.

I still think A7X should have headlined the show. The band was far more superior in musicianship and showmanship.

And there’s the fact that A7X’s songs are more than just the “party-’til-you-drop” stuff.

“The Rev” was one of the co-founders of the band, which won the Best New Artist award at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards.

The band posted a statement on its website, www.avengedsevenfold.com:

“It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of Jimmy ‘The Rev’ Sullivan,” the band announced. “Jimmy was not only one of the world’s best drummers, but more importantly he was our best friend and brother. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jimmy’s family, and we hope that you will respect their privacy during this difficult time. Jimmy you are forever in our hearts. We love you.”

I, along with other fans, await the autopsy reports. And while people are speculating about drugs and other causes, the fact of the matter is he’s gone. And I will hold my thoughts until I hear or read the truth.

Here’s to you, Jimmy.

Peace.
