Seen and reviewed (Jan. 22)
New films in theaters this week:
– “Extraordinary Measures” (rated PG), a fact-based medical drama starring Brendan Fraser and Harrison Ford.
– “Legion” (rated R), a post-apocalyptic thriller starring Paul Bettany and Dennis Quaid.
– “Tooth Fairy” (rated PG), a comic fantasy starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Julie Andrews.
“Legion” was not pre-screened for critics, which is rarely if ever a good sign. The trailers and ads for the movie weren’t that promising to begin with.

Given their problems with both “Extraordinary Measures” and “Tooth Fairy,” it’s hard to say there really is a best movie this week. The former is a treacly drama that could have played on the Lifetime cable network if it didn’t have marketable stars. And the latter, based on a script treatment that’s been kicking around Hollywood for nearly 15 years, just seems like an excuse to dress macho man Johnson in a tutu.
Which, if any, of these movies fit into your weekend viewing plans?
