Well the Grammys were able to get it right when it came to the Best Reggae Album award.
Instead of giving the award to Buju Banton, who is accused of being homophobic because of his anti-gay lyrics, the Grammy people chose Stephen Marley’s album “Mind Control — Acoustic.”
Kudos to them for avoiding more controversy and for actually awarding an album with good musical merit.
Oh, and for all of you who have written to me about the difference between Record of the Year and Song of the Year, here is an explanation:
The Record of the Year is a awarded to the artist, producer, engineer and mixer of a single song.
The Song of the Year is awarded to the song’s composers and writers.
And for good measure, the Album of the Year is awarded to the artist, producer, engineer, mixer and the mastering engineer of an entire album.
I hope that clears things up.
