Utah's Natural Roots benefit

Utah reggae group Natural Roots will be playing a benefit concert at Kava Roots Cafe, 815 E. 2100 South, tonight (June 10).

The music will begin at 9:30 p.m.

A $10 donation is suggested.

The money raised will help the band’s founder and former keyboardist Samo Aiono help with his ailing mother’s medical bills.

Aiono’s father passed away last week and his mother is currently on life support at a local hospital.

Kava Roots Cafe originated in Hawaii and, while the Sugarhouse store isn’t officially open, the owners felt this was an important cause to provide the venue.

According to the cafe’s business plan, all Kava Roots Cafe stores must hold community outreach programs every 90 days. And the Natural Roots benefit is one of those programs, according to Kava Roots Cafe spokesman Tom Murray.
