Sundance

It’s been awhile since I’ve written anything here. My day job has been keeping me busy. But now I’m going to try and fire this thing up again.

To start off with, let’s talk Sundance!

Lots big name music acts are headed to Park City this year along with the usual ensemble of actors and movie stars.

The Bing Bar will be hosting many of Hollywood’s biggest names and music acts. And although they performances aren’t open to the public, many of them will be streamed live.

Among those scheduled to perform this year: Cobra Starship, Jason Mraz, Drake, Wiz Khalifa, Deer Tick, Fitz and the Tantrums and James Murphy.

Neil Young is also expected to make an appearance Saturday in support of the film “Neil Young Journeys.” Paul Simon is scheduled to attend the screening for “Under African Skies” on Jan. 22.

The ASCAP Music Cafe also has another strong lineup for this year’s festival, including David Gray, The All-American Rejects and Natasha Bedingfield appearing with John Fort and Friends.

This year’s lineup also includes James McCartney. Let me repeat, McCARTNEY. Yes, as in son of Sir Paul who has been trying to establish his own career as a singer-song writer.

Right after McCartney is scheduled to play on the 23rd, ASCAP has a “surprise special guest” listed as their closing act for Monday. Stay tuned.

Also scheduled to perform is Josh Kelley, who may be just as famous for his family members as his own music. The Park City resident married actress Katherine Heigl in 2007. His brother is Lady Antebellum vocalist Charles Kelley.

The ASCAP Music Cafe is open to those with Sundance credentials.
