Sundance starts next week. But it’s a concert, not a movie, that’s quickly becoming the must-see event of the festival.
Dave Grohl – whose documentary Sound City is premiering at Sundance – had previously announced that he’d be performing along with the Sound City Players at Park City Live (formerly Harry O’s) on Jan 18.
This week he announced who the Sound City Players are:
The rest of the Foo Fighters
Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick
Brad Wilk of Rage Against the Machine
Corey Taylor of Slipknot
Lee Ving of Fear
Rami Jaffee of The Wallflowers
Tickets to the public are already sold out, and distribution of tickets will be tight to prevent scalping.
Sound City is about the legendary recording studio in California where some of the greatest albums in rock-n-roll were recorded, including Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors, Nirvana’s Nevermind, and many of Tom Petty’s albums. The studio closed in 2011.
