SALT LAKE CITY — Micky and the Motorcars delivered another solid performance at The State Room Wednesday night.
Despite a smaller crowd (and half of them seemed to be from Idaho) than MMC’s previous performance in December, the band still brought the same amount of energy and good spirits as before. Frontman Micky Braun even took time to pose for pictures with crowd members during the set.
The set list was for the most part the same as December, which was fine since December’s set was excellent. Starting off with “Any Longer Anymore” and “Naive,” the band ripped through a bevy of crowd favorites like “Rock Springs to Cheyenne,” “Carolina Morning,” “Grow Old,” “Long Enough to Leave” and “Lawyers, Guns and Money.”
Those standing in the first few rows got a great view of the impressive guitar work of Dustin Schaefer whose quick playing was one of evening’s highlights.
Other songs on the set list Thursday included, “Guts,” “Seashell,” “Ain’t In It For the Money,” “Twilight,” and “A Thousand Tears.” The evening ended with another solid rendition of The Faces’ “Stay With Me.”
Surprisingly, only one new song was added to the set list. Micky and the Motorcars have a new album due to be released in the summer. Hopefully that means MMC will be back later this year to give fans a longer taste of their new material.
